Delicatessen

Release date: 1991

Genre: Comedy/Crime/Fantasy

Director/s: Marc Caro, Jean-Pierre Jeunet

Cast: Marie-Laure Dougnac, Dominic Pinon, Pascal Benezech...

Plot: Post-apocalyptic surrealist black comedy about the landlord of an apartment building who occasionally prepares a delicacy for his odd tenants.

First of all I liked the movie overall. It was both cruel and entertaining. The quality of the images were a bit too dark and too many warm colors.

In this scene lots of stuff happen. It starts with one of the main characters, the Butcher, having an affair with a woman. Every single character then, hearing that bed noise, changes the "speed" or the way of their actions according to the Butcher and his noise.

The director used nondiegetic sound: sound bridge, the cello on the background, and foley, all the different noises that the objects reproduce.

I really liked this scene because of the rhythm that they made by just doing their own jobs and hobbies.
