This is my first video with sound.

After have studied about sound Foley, which is the sound reproduced on the post-production, I took the camera to try it. This video is the one I like most so far as it has good sound and shot angles and also good enough edit.

Making

As always I used the camera from college, Canon 700D, and a tripod. This time, to make the sound, I also used a shotgun microphone (shown below) which could take every sound details of the scene.

I tried to record sounds and shots at the same time. Once I finished the production, I listened to every single file, but I found out I actually didn't record anything because I had to press twice the "rec" button and I pressed it just once. So, after transferred the shots on the computer, I went back to record the sounds. It was a bit hard because I had to reproduce the sounds based on the shots, and I was afraid it wouldn't have matched with the shots.

I filmed inside college and the "story" is just about the end of the lessons at college, so there is from wearing the coat to leaving the college. Although I was the character of the movie, I helped my group filming and recording the sound.

I used different types of shots, such as long shot, medium shot and close ups, which I really like as you can see the details of the shot like the final part, when I pass my ID on the reader.

Editing

The edit was quite easy this time because I knew already the order of the clips. I chose the ones I needed and then I deleted all the sounds from the clips, as there were too much noises on the background, and cut the the clips for the parts I wanted.

I created then the title for the movie, called simply "Sound shots". For it, I used After Effects and Bridge. Showing below step by step, I used "raining character effect". It's always a problem when I need to use Bridge as it's really slow in this computer and sometimes it even gets frozen. (Click on the images to see better on details)

I put it then on my edit, with all the sounds I made. I added an additional sound that looks like falling letters to the title, even if there was already one with the effect I chose but I deleted it as it wasn't really working.

I had to match then all the different sounds I made during the post-production to their respective clips. I had to listen to it plenty of times to make sure the clip was perfectly matching with the sound. For example, the screenshot on the left side. I put two different sound for when I open the door and it closes back, and as background I put the footsteps sound.

For background, for all the duration of the movie, I put footsteps and the sound of the coat when you wear it or you just walk and move your arms. In some parts, I think it doesn't really match but I didn't know what else to put and anyway I think it's not that bad.

Then I added of course effects to the clips and sounds, like Cross Dissolve and Dip to Black, which I like to use it for the end of a movie.

As I said at the beginning, this is my favorite shot because of its details. It actually shows perfectly the main subject which is the hand that passes the ID on the reader. If I had used a medium/long shot, it probably wouldn't have showed the action as good as the close up does. I also like the colors and the light of this shot.
